JUST 10 Questions for Roshumba Williams
Roshumba Williams is not just another pretty face. She is, however, a very pretty face. For over a decade Roshumba walked the runways for fashion designers, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Armani and Chanel. She was the image representing Cover Girl and Maybelline. In 2004 Sports Illustrated selected Roshumba as one of their Hall-of-Fame models along with Tyra Banks and Elle McPhearson. Most recently, she has been a correspondent for NBC and Lifetime TV and is launching her own TV show, She's Got The Look, this summer. But, what really drives her is the need she feels to protect children. It's simple for her, as a woman she feels it's her fundamental responsibility to protect future generations, those with strength need to look after those in peril. That's truly beautiful!
1. How does your career / business relate to your core "values" in how you approach life and what you want to share with others?
My work as a Television Host and Model keeps me in the public eye so I am aware that I am a role model for many people so I do my best to live my life on and off camera in a way that people can respect me.
2. When you look at the impact your career has had on people around you, what makes you the most proud?
My modeling career lead me to open doors for a different standard of beauty. Now the dark skinned black women with short hair is accepted as a beauty along side the beauties with blonde hair and blue eyes. Being featured five times in the Sports illustrated Swimsuit Issue made the possible.
3. Was there a "defining moment" when you knew that this was what you wanted to focus your professional energy on?
My television career became my life commitment after working for Entertainment Tonight. Modeling became my life's passion after I saw my first Elle Magazine on the news stand at a Kroger grocery store in Peoria Illinois when I was 15 years old.
4. In your personal life, what is the "cause" to which you dedicate the most time / energy / money?
I've attended many fundraisers and appeared in promotional advertisements for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. I give so much to this cause because children are so small and fragile, they need as many people as possible to speak up for them, often times their little voices go unheard.
5. Why? Has it touched your life somehow?
I am a women it is my natural instinct to want to protect and take care of children
6. What do you do - personally or professionally - to support that cause?
I enjoy participating in the annual Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids "Kids for Kids" event and join their other fundraisers when my schedule permits.
7. What do you wish people understood about your cause?
That it is the responsibility of all women and men to protect and nurture the children of the world.
8. If you had a magic wand, what would you do?
I would create world peace.

10. Can you think of an example of a really innovative approach to solving this problem - either one that someone else did or that you would like to see someone do?
I feel that to achieve world peace each individual person needs to take responsibility for their own actions, focus on making themselves a better person, opposed to trying to change others
