Embracing Differences
Yes, this post really does fall under the category of health. As a parent and also an animal lover, I have heard numerous stories about how animals can make an emotional as well as a physical difference in our lives. From lowering our stress level to just plain old making us smile, animals have the power to help us. In fact, from time to time I'll hear about how an animal who is "different" will help a child who also has physical differences. After all, the animal doesn't realize its different from other cats and dogs.
That is why I was captivated by the picture of the four-eared cat named Yoda. How cool is that? Apparently the owner's son posted a picture of Yoda on the internet, and fame followed. Before that Yoda was living comfortably with his family after being adopted from a bar where he was kept caged for the amusement of the customers. Yahoo News writes, "The Rocks, from the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove, have fielded calls from "Good Morning America," "Fox News" and "The Tyra Banks Show." The cat's photo has graced the London Guardian and a British tabloid. The Daily Mail said if Batman had a cat, it would be Yoda."
Unfortunately, not everyone embraced Yoda's unique appearance. Cyber-Junkie.com writes, "Some in the bar were passing the then-eight-week old kitten around, making fun of his extra set of ears, mocking his appearance and calling him names such as “Devil Cat” and “Beelzebub.”"
Yoda's celebrity status has even brought him into dangerous territory; a dog blog. Well, perhaps a dog blog isn't dangerous for a cat, but it is an odd place to find a feline. DogExplorer.com did write the following in support of Yoda, "Yoda, a Downers Grove cat is making animal news all over the world. The little feline is well, unusual. Instead of the normal two ears, Yoda has four ear flaps.
"The strange cat belongs to Ted Rock and his wife Valerie Rock. Published reports say the extra ears are simply flaps of skin caused by a birth defect.
"This is yet another example of animal adoption bringing the unexpected elements into someone's life."
If Yoda can make it into the canine world, could he make it into the human celebrity world? Why not? Your Celebrity Source writes, "Talk about seeing double: A 2-year-old, gray house cat with an extra pair of ears and named after Star Wars's Jedi master Yoda has taken the Internet by storm – thanks to online photos showing off his four ears."
I had no problem finding bloggers talking about Yoda. The general feeling is one of being impressed with Yoda. Sure, he looks different, and he is very small, but he really does seem to have Jedi powers as he's bringing smiles to people across the internet and other media. Judge him not by his size
