I am neither an artist nor an activist, though sometimes I wish that I had more of both in me. What I am is a story teller.

I have to go somewhere that is 7 miles from my house.

My distaste for fashion labels, brands, icons and whatnot has more to do with my distaste for being told what to do, than anything else. Even as a child, if someone said to me, “you have to wear a dress,” I would immediately go put on a pair of pants and heaven help the person – no matter how big or “authoritative” - who tried to tell me to take off the pants.

Before getting the seemingly crazy idea to start JUST CAUSE IT, I never would have thought that I was someone who loved business. I mean, business? Aren’t business people those uptight men sitting in offices and doing, I dunno, boring business stuff?

I desperately want to be one of those people who is truly accepting of everyone else.

My family and I spent yesterday evening at a lecture called The Challenge of Climate Change, which was given by Dennis Dimick, editor of National Geographic, as part of their National Geographic Live Lecture

I've never considered myself an environmentalist. I care about the environment, and I behave as environmentally correctly as possible, but it's usually not the thing that gets me up in arms. Except this morning.

Did you know that our government is building a wall that will keep jaguars, bears, antelopes, migratory birds and countless other species of animals out of the US?

New York State now boasts the first legally blind governor in U.S. History. By the way, he is black and a strong supporter of gay rights, so, "Thanks, Kristen" you've done us all a service!

I find myself thrilled by this, like a child with proof that there is a Santa Claus.

I was watching the Today Show this morning (as every morning,) and saw a brief news bit about a diamond reported to be "worth" 13 million dollars. While I was grateful for the break from the Elliot Spitzer call-girl scandal, (she, apparently, is "worth" a cool $4,300 per night,) I couldn't get past the idea of a rock being worth 13 million dollars.

Wow.
