monday december 17 update on stuff drive for red cross seattle
Update on dropping stuff off in Chehalis for the Red Cross. The red
cross is closing its emergency shelters and is going back to their
normal relief operations mode so they're requesting cash-only
donations at this time. You can do that through http://www.seattleredcross.org/
The Red Cross is currently recommending donations of goods go through
R Place of Refuge, which is taking over doing some of the relief
missions, they have large trucks going down to Chehalis Wednesday and
a distribution plan. So, anything brought to the lower level tonight
will end up getting dropped off @ RPlaceOfRefuge tomorrow morning. http://www.rplaceofrefuge.org/
Things they need:
* underwear and socks, new in packages.
* toys, specifically dolls and other nice stuff for girls. Should
be new in package. Apparently, they're doing something with Toys for
Tots and they have more boy's presents than girls. I am currently
uninterested in debating gender roles with people on this list.
* coats and etc... waterproof winter coats. should be in almost
new condition.
* hygeine and household products.
* infant - adult clothing, basically new.
They're also accepting non-perishable food items. But they apparently
need socks and underwear a lot, because apparently its easy to get
used clothes in plentiful supply but only fetishists and freegans want
used underwear. There may be a disaster relief service for underwear
fetishists somewhere, but this isn't it.
Having done this sort of pickup of stuff before, let me just state
that this is not an opportunity for folks to save dump fees on shit
they don't want anymore, this is an opportunity to help people who
need it. The people these things are going to are in need, and need
things in good order that will last until they get on their feet.
If you don't want to go to the lower level tonight, they are located
in kent and are accepting donations today and tomorrow. address on
their website.
Thanks for helping, Forward to other lists if you like.
