October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and while I was channel surfing Comcast’s On Demand service I came across a treasure trove of special programming relating to Breast Cancer.
I checked out their website and found that they have partnered with Lifetime TV and other content providers to offer 40 programs broken up into five categories: What’s My Risk? Fact or Fiction, Fashion Tips, Breast Cancer Information and Inspiration. The programs range from education on the causes and prevention of breast cancer and how to deal with diagnosis and treatment, to inspirational features from Lifetime’s Intimate Portraits, including profiles of Ann Curry, Betsey Johnson and Rosanna Arquette.
Also available on-demand is the original Lifetime movie Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, starring Sarah Chalke from Scrubs. The film is based on the memoir of breast-cancer survivor and Lifetime executive Geralyn Lucas.
Comcast also is making a wide range of breast cancer information available online at http://www.comcast.net/breastcancer. At that site, visitors can view video news reports, read and post to message boards about breast cancer, and send their questions to Dr. Marisa Weiss, the founder of BreastCancer.org.
The Breast Cancer Hope campaign runs throughout the month of October. If you have Comcast service go to On Demand, select Searchlight then Life & Home and then Breast Cancer Hope.
