One ripple creates a wave

Yesterday, I attended services at the church where I conducted my doctoral internship.  I sat in the pew at St. Stephen Presbyterian of Houston, looking over the small congregation that I've come to care about so much.  I thought about how one person can change so much with just the right information about the harmful effects of refined foods.  'Oh,' I thought, 'she doesn't have that acid reflux any more.  And that one has lost 50 lbs, and that one doesn't have to take the cholesterol medication, and yes, he didn't have the blockage in his heart that the doctors predicted, and he got through a round of radiation with almost no side effects.  And look how well that friend is walking now that her joint pain is gone.  Her color is so good and she's not depressed anymore.  And he needs to get a new jacket.  He's lost so much weight his clothes just hang on him. ' And another stops me after church to tell me her father's hernia doesn't hurt anymore and that her friend doesn't feel so stressed.  I remember that another member has lost four sizes and her husband doesn't need his diabetes medication anymore.  And my dear friend isn't tired anymore, nor does she have high blood pressure. And on and on.

This program is a miracle.  It's humbling how much good a few classes and books can do in the right environment.
