To Bail Out or Not Bail Out?

To Bail Out or Not Bail Out?

That IS the question this week.  How would the proposed $700 billion effect education?  I guess the answer depends on who wins the presidential election doesn't it?

Obama was hoping to infuse education with billions of dollars although you should not go spending that extra money just yet.  Obama put forth a plan in which most of the money would likely go to drop out programs and getting more kids into pre-school, not increasing teacher salaries or physical maintainance of schools.  However, with this bail out of Wall St. even Obama suggests that any increases in education would not happen for quite some time.

Even before the bailout was in the works, McCain said he would freeze most domestic spending, including education programs.  So considering that McCain was looking to freeze spending before the bail out it does not look good for education under McCain.

McCain is not looking to cut education spending but he is not necessarily looking to increase it.  I think that education would be one of the last things that McCain would want to decrease spending on (with defense being the last thing he would cut).

Let's put is simply, this bail out is nothing but bad news for everyone except Wall Street.  Wall Street will promise to put an end to hundred million dollar payouts and bonuses but I trust them as far as I can throw them.  Those who enter the financial field are not in it to help societ or keep promises, they are in it for the money and we will never be able to change that.
