Sneakers at Work Day
SNEAKERS@WORK DAY is a sweeping nationwide workplace-based awareness and fundraising event just prior to Father’s Day, which will bring major attention to this devastating silent killer among men.
Any company who participates will be wearing a badge of goodwill and support for men across the country. This is a groundbreaking launch of a new campaign, which is certain to do as much for prostate cancer awareness and action as the wearing of denim has done for breast cancer awareness and action.
The next SNEAKERS@WORK DAY is June 13, 2008. You can register your company online at http://www.sneakersatwork.org/register.cfm
Sneakers@Work Day is modeled on the hugely successful Lee National Denim Day™. In 2006, 30,000 companies and their millions of employees participated in Denim Day® for Breast Cancer Research and Awareness. Now it is time to do the same for the guys!
CANCER SCREENING AT AGE 40 HOLDS BENEFITS. According to WSJ both age and ethnicity are well-established risk factors for prostate cancer. Wall Street Journal—11/7/2006
PROSTATE CANCER IS THE #2 CANCER KILLER OF MEN. Check out the six most common risk factors for Prostate Cancer.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Last year, 56 corporations gave $200,000+ each in support of breast cancer awareness, education and research. During the same period, only a fraction, 6 companies gave this amount to fight prostate cancer. For every $100 donated by individuals to breast cancer only $1 is donated to prostate cancer!
In 2006, 30,000 companies raised $9 million for breast cancer by allowing their employees to wear denim to work on just one day. Until SNEAKERS@WORK DAY there has not been a similar grassroots effort on behalf of the guys.
Spread the word. And wear sneakers to work on June 13, 2008.
